The program Sustainable Development offers opportunities to learn more about sustainable development from local to global. It is an important political objective in Sweden, the EU and other countries worldwide.
The concept of sustainable development has an interdisciplinary basis and applies a holistic approach incorporating economic, social and ecological aspects. Knowledge of how the interaction between ecological and social factors affect economic development permeates the entire program.
The program is offered in collaboration with Uppsala University and admissions are managed through them.
What you read on the program
The program begins with a review of different approaches for sustainable development in natural and social sciences. You will get with you a number of important tools suitable for analyzing and managing sustainable development. Your knowledge is then used in interdisciplinary case studies where you will work with students from other areas. The third semester you can choose from a number of elective courses based on the profile of your Bachelor's degree. The thesis written during the fourth and last semester.
A degree in sustainable development opens the door for jobs such as makers in the private or public sector, teachers or researchers. Potential employers can be public agencies such as environmental protection agencies, local and regional authorities. The studies will also form an excellent basis for PhD studies and continue with academic research.
